Mask in progress 06/18/2009

Picture
Its been a couple of years since I made a mask so I got out the clay and started on a dragon. Dragons are good because they are not real so there is a lot of leeway if I make anatomical mistakes. Heres the start, the finish will not be perfect but it will be a result.

Far left, basic cardboard structure, left, clay with taxidermy eyes. Next step is to cover the clay in vaseline and papier mache all over. The foam horns will come out of the basic structure and be attatched to the papier mache one.

An open challenge set by a ccdb member Belle, to create CATS style seal point makeup.

I think it would have worked a little better if I had extended the darkness of the nose further up into the feathering between the eye brows, then it may have looked more balanced? I was going for that look a lot of the female faces sometimes have where the nose if just lightly dabbed with a colour and the darkest parts of point faces tend to be towards the very center from what I can see.

Giant sock bag 06/12/2009

Picture
Finished my sock bag. The problem with cats costuming is that lycra unitards tend to not have pockets, not so handy when you need to be holding items such as money, phones and train tickets! Luckily Rumple is a theif (haha...yeah a cat burgler...lol) and in quite a few productions her and Mungo sneak in with giant socks as loot bags.
This is my loot/keepsafe bag.
Pictured below with a real cat for size comparison.

KizzKitten's Berlin styled Rumple warmers! The orange, yellow and light grey stripes were knit with 2 shades to give them a little more depth and pattern. To debut with her full costume at a Race for Life event.
